Objective of SHRESHTA

The Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) is a transformative initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing quality education to Scheduled Caste (SC) students. Eligibility Criteria

  2. School Recognition: Students must be studying in recognized schools, whether Private, Government, or Local Body institutions.
  3. Class-Specific Requirements:
    • For Class 9 Admission: The student must have passed Class 8 in the immediately preceding academic year.
    • For Class 11 Admission: The student must have passed Class 10 in the immediately preceding academic year.
  4. Income Limit: The parental annual income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
  5. Document Verification: Caste and income certificates must be uploaded during the web counselling process.
  6. Exclusion from Pre-Matric Scholarships: Students covered under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme of the Department are not eligible for SHRESHTA.
